Doing Good. Looking Good. To celebrate Earth Month, Maiyet and Tata Harper, leaders in sustainable fashion and beauty respectively, have come together to create an exclusive natural luxury skincare set presented in a custom, hand-woven Varanasi-silk pouch to support the inspiring, earth-and-people friendly work of Nest -a non profit organization devoted to maintaining traditions of craft and the livelihood of artisans worldwide. This four-piece set contains travel sizes of Tata Harper’s best-selling natural skincare essentials for a daily regimen that promotes healthy, beautiful, youthful skin -with only the finest 100% natural & nontoxic, high-performance ingredients.
The set contains: Refreshing Cleanser, Hydrating Floral Essence, Repairative Moisturizer, and Rejuvenating Serum. Each product functions on multiple levels of the skin and delivers multitasking benefits, combining to deliver a luxuriously hydrated, radiant complexion. The bag itself, designed by Maiyet, is handmade in India with fine Varanasi silks and is designed to be just the right size for easy re-use as a travel cosmetics kit.
100% of the proceeds of the Better Beauty Project Campaign go directly to support Nest’s Edible Garden initiative for the silk-weavers of Varanasi, India. This extraordinary initiative will bring knowledge of slow food and the organic food movement to Varanasi, and will culminate in the creation of an on-site garden at the new silk-weaving facility. Maiyet and Tata Harper are proud to support this campaign to promote healthy and sustainable eating and lifestyle in the community of silk craftspeople of Varanasi, India.
This past week, world-renowned London-based architect David Adjaye, Maiyet, and friends of Nest came together in Varanasi for a traditional Indian ceremony to bless the ground that will become the sprawling workshop and community center of the Varanasi Project -where they will rescue and revive the 500 year-old silk weaving tradition in Varanasi, India, helping hundreds of artisans to rebuild lives of peace and prosperity. A joint venture of Maiyet, Nest and Barney’s New York, the update of the historic tradition for the contemporary global economy finds its basis in a new type of workspace -solar powered green space for a carbon-negative footprint, designed by Adjaye.
Maiyet is pioneering a new luxury by creating a fashion brand that celebrates rare artisanal skills from unexpected places. Maiyet’s uniquely inspired, design driven collection seeks to elevate the next generation of master craftsmen from places such as Colombia, India, Indonesia, Italy, Kenya, Mongolia, and Peru. In addition to sourcing from these global artisans, Maiyet deploys customized training programs that allow its partners to create higher-quality, exceptional product and promote stability and prosperity in their communities. The collection is timeless and has unparalleled richness and human touch. It is designed for those who recognize quality and seek something special and rare; someone who is captivated by the caliber of design and further inspired by the soul behind the work.
Tata Harper set out to create her own skin care solutions, when she became frustrated with toxic and ineffective overpriced products. Her goal was to include only naturally-derived, clinical quality, non-toxic ingredients. The result is a highly effective yet deliciously luxurious line, handmade with love in Vermont using only the world’s most potent 100% natural, non-toxic ingredients. Many of her ingredients are grown on Julius Kingdom Farm, her 12,000-acre spread in Vermont nestled in the Champlain Valley, where she resides with her husband and children.
